Butt or boobs?: What men really like | BUNTE.de

Men can be divided into two camps according to popular belief: the boob faction and those who primarily look at a woman's buttocks. But whether he likes to admit it or not: the female bottom exerts an irresistible fascination on all men. It is not for nothing that women have squeezed themselves into shoes with heels that are far too high for generations. They not only lengthen the legs, but also emphasize the wearer's rear in a special way due to the changed posture.

But the butt obsession goes back much, much further into human history, researchers have found. According to this, men can't help but stare at an attractive woman's buttocks. In our ancestors, its expression could decide whether their genes survived.

The buttocks as a symbol

Now you may already have a pretty sophisticated theory as to why men can't resist a plump buttocks. You're most likely way off the mark, though. Because this is less about certain sights in certain positions during sex. Actually, it's not about the butt itself. Rather, from an evolutionary point of view, it is merely a symbol of a much more interesting characteristic of the respective woman.

Researchers at Turkey's Bilkent University put it to the test. They had 300 men choose the most attractive shape among different body types. The winner was the silhouette with an impressive 45-degree bend in the sacrum and coccyx. This flexion creates a particularly splayed buttocks at the end of the spine.

The location advantage of the buttocks

The researchers assume that it is not the buttocks that men find so attractive, but rather the curve in their spine. This physiological peculiarity is said to have brought a valuable advantage in the early hunter-gatherer cultures. According to the scientists, women with a protruding buttocks were able to shift their body's center of gravity from the front to the back via the hips during pregnancy. These women would have coped with the hardships of pregnancy better than their very straight built counterparts. Evolution has translated these more favorable conditions for bearing children into sexual attractiveness.

The study revealed another amazing detail. Men are really only concerned with the strong curvature of the spine. If this ends in a comparatively small buttocks, this does not detract from the attractiveness of the woman.
