Michael J. Fox: How the movie star feels | STERN.de

"A really good groove": Michael J. Fox (60) is doing well physically, he told "People" magazine. The actor, who has been suffering from Parkinson's since the early 1990s, had an accident three years ago. "Every day is different," he says now. The circle of things he can do is getting smaller: "But I'm glad I found things in the middle of the circle that aren't being touched, like my family and the time I have with them."

Speaking of his fall three years ago, which broke his arm, the actor says, "I felt so sorry for myself at that moment, lying on the ground like a sack of bones." The "Back to the Future" star recalled, "And I was like, 'Who am I to tell people to be cheerful?' In the end, however, he realized that he could feel gratitude: "You can be a realist and an optimist at the same time. If I don't accept it, I won't get anywhere."

The 60-year-old is now celebrating the 20th anniversary of his Michael J. Fox Foundation. Sting (70) and Brad Paisley (48) are to perform at a benefit event. The foundation has raised more than $1 billion for Parkinson's research to date.

The kids have moved out

Michael J. Fox and his wife Tracy Pollan (61), to whom he has been married since 1988, have four children: Esmé (19), twins Aquinnah and Schuyler ( 26) and Sam (32). Everyone has already moved out. "We sold our house and went to Santa Barbara for a few months," says the actor. "We'll be going to Malibu later this year and hanging out. We don't have anyone to pick up at school."

Despite this, the family is very close, says Fox: "My children are amazing and they put their energy into making things different and better."
