New Year's make-up: 4 ideas from Runway, which we wear ourselves this year!

By Maria Goldbach

We've known for a long time that the times of extreme contouring, long fake lashes and perfect cut creases are over - the make-up trend is towards naturalness. This is also evident in the runway looks of the Fall 2021 shows. We have put together the most beautiful templates for the perfect winter make-up for you.

Bare-skin look

A trend that runs through all looks on the catwalk is flawless, calm skin. The basis for this is a covering foundation that ensures an even complexion and makes small bumps disappear. Bronzer is usually not used at all or only very sparingly to lift the cheekbones a little, as with Dior or Azzaro. However, a touch of blush in baby pink is welcome, as seen, for example, with Linda Cantello, Armani's International Make-up Artist, who gave the models a rosy complexion at the Armani Privé show. A pink blush was also used for Ronald van der Kemp, whereby the skin of the model shone in a dewy wet look in contrast to the otherwise rather matt finishes.

Nude Lips

According to the motto naturalness, in contrast to the last few years, there were no flashy or strong lipsticks to be found at the autumn shows. Instead, the lips of the models were kept in a light nude or pink in almost all looks. Balenciaga, Fendi and Valentino chose a matt texture for this so that the lips hardly stand out from the subtly made-up skin. The mouths of the models at Iris van Herpen and Dior were a bit more accentuated, here the look was finished with a subtle, translucent gloss.

Graphic eyeliner

But not all trends of this winter season are kept simple - because this year the following applies to eyeliner: the more conspicuous, the better! Especially as a contrast to the matt skin and the nude lips, the eyeliner was a highlight in many looks. Whether graphically in jet black and with a large wing like Balenciaga, Ronald van der Kemp and Giambattista Valli or very loud in all the colors of the rainbow – Pat McGrath did make-up for this look at Valentino – the main thing is that it’s eye-catching! Schiaparelli went for both and presented a metallic look in purple in addition to an expansive winged liner that encloses the entire eye.

Smokey eyes in blue-grey

Anyone who is still looking for the perfect eye make-up for the holidays should definitely remember this trend: Because the smokey eyes in smoky blue-grey tones are both sexy and elegant . Here, in addition to the upper lid, the lower half of the eye in particular is strongly emphasized with eye shadow, which was seen with both Chanel and Azzaro.

Dior and Armani Privé combined the blue-grey trend with eyeliner, with Linda Cantello choosing a very narrow, subtle eyeliner for the baby blue eyeshadow and Peter Philips applying make-up to the lower waterline on the lower waterline, extending inwards and outwards, reminiscent of ancient Egypt.

These trends from the runway are great inspiration and come just in time for the holiday season, when it's time to get a little more experimental, especially when it comes to eye make-up. In addition, natural skin with pink cheeks and subtle lips, and the perfect look as it is from the runway!
