Halle Berry Receives Honorary Mention at People's Choice Awards

Los Angeles – Oscar winner Halle Berry (55) will receive the honorary award as "Icon" of the year at the People's Choice Awards in December.

This was announced by the awardees of the audience awards on Friday. The actress, producer and director is thus honored for her services to film and television and for her social commitment.

Berry became the first black woman to win an Oscar for Best Actress in 2002 for "Monster's Ball." For the film "Bruised", which can be seen on Netflix from the end of November, Berry also stood behind the camera for the first time as a director. Previous People's Icon honorees include US comedian Melissa McCarthy, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez.

Since 1975, the nominees and winners of the People's Choice Awards in dozens of film, television and music categories are voted solely by fans. Hollywood stars Scarlett Johansson and Dwayne Johnson, singer Justin Bieber and the films "Dune", "Fast & Furious 9", "Black Widow" and "No Time To Die" are among the favorites in the race for the "People's Choice" this time awards". The trophies will be presented in a live show on US television on December 7th.
