"Do you understand fun?": This is how Guido Cantz continues

Moderator Guido Cantz (50) celebrates two anniversaries and his farewell at the same time with the new "Do you understand fun?" edition. On Saturday evening (December 18, 8:15 p.m., the first), the Kölner will be leading the 60th - and last - time through the 200th broadcast of the popular television show.

In his finale, which was taped in October, he again shows a lot of pranks that were filmed with a hidden camera. A film was caught up by the Corona events. "With the prank at the Christmas market, we wanted to get the viewers in the mood for Christmas just before the holidays," the broadcaster explained. "It was not foreseeable at the time of recording that Christmas markets in Germany would close in December due to the pandemic," it said.

Nonetheless, the host once again welcomes numerous celebrity guests to the studio who have been tricked or helped trick others. Jörg Pilawa (56), Arabella Kiesbauer (52), Tahnee (29), Andy Borg (61), Isabel Varell (60) and Francine Jordi (44) have been announced. The magicians Ehrlich Brothers will also be there as show acts and Santiano with the title "When the cold comes" and Vanessa Mai (29) with her Christmas title "Home".

Guido Cantz caught cold at the hot stove

As the broadcaster also announced in advance, Guido Cantz was fooled again at the end. Together with celebrity chef Steffen Henssler (49), the “Do you understand fun?” team trapped him with an appearance on the cooking show “Grill den Henssler” (VOX): Cantz gives everything on the stove and eagerly awaits the culinary verdict the prominent jurors Mirja Boes (50), Reiner Calmund (73) and Christian Rach (64). But there is a record low score - and an unexpected reunion with his production team... After that, however, it's time to say goodbye: "Thanks Guido, for 12 years of fun!" Appears on the studio wall behind him.

It has been known since June that Guido Cantz will moderate "Do you understand fun?" will give. "I would like to thank the SWR and my entire team for the trusting and successful cooperation over the past twelve years. I will never forget my extraordinary work as a decoy, the many great guests on the sofa and of course the highlight, the show's anniversary show. From my time at 'Do you understand fun?' I will certainly tell my grandchildren," he said at the time.

Legendary entertainment show with a long tradition

The first edition of the entertainment show was broadcast on January 31, 1980 on the first. It was invented by her later longtime moderator, the Swiss Kurt Felix (1941-2012). He had already interspersed films made with a hidden camera in his show Teleboy, which aired in his home country from 1974 to 1981. Before that there was the show "Caution Camera" (1961-1966) with Chris Howland (1928-2013) and the US version "Candid Camera" (1948-1952).

The really great success came with the German edition, as "Do you understand fun?" became a Saturday night show. From 1983, Kurt Felix led the show together with his wife, the Swiss singer Paola Felix (71). In 1990 the last issue with the two was broadcast. After that they withdrew behind the camera (Kurt) or from show business (Paola).

After this great "Do you understand fun?" era, Harald Schmidt (64) took over the moderation of the show from 1992 to 1995. According to "SWR", Dieter Hallervorden (86) followed from 1996 to 1997, Cherno Jobatey (56) from 1998 to 2002 and "Wetten, dass ..?" inventor Frank Elstner (79) from 2002 to 2009. Guido Cantz led through the show for the first time on April 10, 2010. In 2014 she was awarded the German Comedy Prize in the category "Best Hidden Camera".

What's next?

At the end of July, the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) broadcaster, which produces the program for Das Erste, announced that Barbara Schöneberger (47) would be the moderator next year. "For me, with this new task on Saturday evening, a childhood dream comes true. Even as a little girl, I hung in front of the television and thought Paola and Kurt Felix were great! Especially Paola's show and singing talent were always a role model for me - not to mention her wonderful haircut ' she gushed at the announcement.

"The show is a great classic who, like me, is full of juice even though he's slightly over 40," says the successful presenter ("ESC", "NDR Talk Show", Bambi, Romy, Echo, "Because she don't know what's happening"). In the course of her career, in crazy situations, she often hoped that "Do you understand the fun?" she was finally allowed to turn the tables. "I'm really looking forward to the astonished faces of celebrities and 'normal people' when they realize that we've really duped them [...] And now more than ever: no one is ahead of me secure."

The first show with the new host and "evolved concept" is expected to air April 2, 2022, SpotOnNews
